7-19-2014 Intel Guru TD I was able to learn that Maliki seems to have finally come to grips with the fact that he must go. At this stage he is still hoping for his party to rule and whether he can call plays from the sidelines. My Kurdish friend indicates the Kurds are at least "listening" to participate in a new Iraq. They are not abandoning their dreams of independence and so if the deal is not both "Soon enough" and "The right deal", then all bets are off. While the goal of graduating to international markets from a program rate is on everyone's radar, the means to get there took several steps back with recent turmoil. Just the fact that the factions are "talking" is a huge victory as they "try" to regroup and save an "identity" known as Iraq. Make no mistake though that we are NOT out of the woods just yet and WHETHER they can build an inclusive, functioning and stable government is what the entire world is waiting to see. Iran is calling for his resignation along with every country around Iraq, plus Europe and the US and Australia. When you throw in al-Sistanis warning to come out totally against him if he doesn't resign in now 5 days, he is in deep trouble. Maliki has become toxic...It is my belief he will resign and then run or he will just run. He can't stay in Iraq or he will face some very serious charges.
7-17-2014 Intel Guru EXOGEN The European Parliament just passed a national referendum against Maliki And former Iranian President Rafsanjani who is now the richest man in Iran and has more clout than their President just told Maliki he has talked to O [Obama] and they both agreed he needs to accept the deal they have for him. Maliki will be officially taking "the deal" early next week....and the POR named on or before Wednesday and the PM shortly thereafter within a PTB timeline to have all done by end of month.

He wants to go out of the shoot getting the 150 laws, which includes Article 140, the oil and gas law and many laws pertaining to assisting the economy grow that Maliki and his government have held up for 8 years finished as quickly as possible. With a government that is non sectarian he can accomplish it. The budget will be the first thing he tackles and should go up for vote immediately following the POR being elected. The POR has to be in office to sign the budget. The budget will set many things in motion. The CBI is ripe for monetary change and we know Turki is itching to get it going. As long as this government is finished this month as I believe they have to, it is my belief we will finally see that long sought after change in the exchange rate. I stand by the over $3.25 to $3.65 rate.

7-17-2014 Newshound Guru Tlar well in true Iraqi style they have managed to push the next parliament into next week. The POP (President of Parliament) and his deputies are voted on and in place. The reason for the delay is not real clear but I believe it is to give more time for the POR (President of the Republic) to be firmed up. It is my belief that this is a dodge. The SOL has been waffling the last couple of days as to whether they will nominate Maliki or not, so it was decided to give it one more week...there is in place a battle plan to finish this next week meaning voting on the Presidents and the PM position. The next parliamentary session is scheduled at present for Wednesday but it might come earlier (the POP can call them in earlier) if they can solve the PM position with the SOL. Barring that not happening, the coalition is prepared to finish this with a no vote on Maliki.

I have been told today that the three presidents have now been agreed on. THEY WILL BE VOTED INTO POSITION ON THE 23RD then there will be a follow up meeting on the 28th that they are hoping to announce a agreement and vote of the new prime minister and opening of their 2014 budget. Security in Iraq is better...CBI is ready to rock; most of the ministers are slated for their positions. Banks have been given notice to get their act together in Iraq. In the USA, the UN is prepped and ready to go. They are content and ‘happy’ with the progress Iraq has made yesterday and today. The administration and affiliates have said “Okay, we give our blessings on this”. The banks are ready or getting ready...I have heard from many different people that everyone is to be ready, and the game is serious. It is my strong contention that the PM [Prime Minister] and the RV will happen at the same time. Bottom line, folks, is that things look exceptionally good.

7-16-2014 Newshound/Intel Guru Doc This article pretty well sums up what our ME contacts told us…"Sunni cleric Abdul Malik Al-Saadi, who praised the "mujahdeen" (holy warriors) leading the revolt, said tribes were the backbone of a broad based insurgency battling against Iraqi Shi'ite Islamist Prime Minister Nuri Maliki's rule…." We categorically disagree with those that are reporting the situation is not that bad. The issue continues to be Maliki has not and most likely will never form an inclusive government. The situation was bad enough that it has led to civil war. For currency reform to even be considered an inclusive, stable government must be formed and functioning. While we believe this can happen it is most likely months away. We are hopeful that 2015 brings a stable Iraq. We report, you decide.
7-16-2014 Newshound/Intel Guru Adam Montana 1, the end of Ramadan (July 28), and 2, the seating of the Government and of course figuring out who will be PM… and all of this is likely to be complete this month! The Kurds are continuing to sell oil and Baghdad isn’t getting any of the proceeds. This is going to continue to put pressure on political leaders to get it together. Obviously this is good for us. Work on the major pipelines continues, which will put more pressure on the HCL… again, good for us…Iraq is doing just fine and I’m looking forward to seeing what they have to offer us in August. 7-16-2014 Newshound Guru Tlar Comment - the President of parliament and both his deputies have been voted in. Tomorrow [Wednesday] they work on the President of Iraq and his Vp's. That should take no more than a couple of days to get done. Then move onto the PM position. Maliki seems to have a problem. He was asked to leave parliament because he was not sworn in. He can't be sworn in while he is the acting PM of the previous government. He has to resign first before he can be sworn in. If he resigns he knows he could be arrested. Catch 22. Once the PM position is up for grabs, he will not be eligible if he doesn't resign and get sworn in. Gees, what's a dictator to do. Has he been alphonsed by the system. If he resigns he looses his immunity. All the new speaker would have to do is postpone the meeting one day not allowing for him to be sworn in and he would be exposed without immunity. 7-16-2014 Newshound/Intel Guru BGG The big news is Jubouri was elected as Speaker of the House, and 2 or 3 deputies. Maliki was asked to leave Parliament because he had no business there & was escorted out. When Parliament was sworn in, I think it was the beginning of the end for Maliki. IMO, as soon as this government is seated and settled, one of the first conversations will be financial reform, economic reform and currency reform. Currency reform is not going away. It is a very very public topic. So, once all the roadblocks are out of the way you will see something done about that in very short order. I think in the next few days there will be some resolution to this whole government situation. This is magnificent news for our investment and for Iraq. Good things coming in the next few days.
